Dunster Country Show is held in the fields below the magnificent Dunster Castle
Last year we had won 1st Prize in the “Best Trade Stand” Competition without even know that such a prize existed.
This had been great as it meant that this year’s pitch was free. What a great prize.
So we set up and enjoyed the sunshine.
There’s loads to see and do at Dunster. One of the real crowd pleasers was the arrival of the Dorset air ambulance
who always pops in (unless otherwise engaged) to give the crowds a chance to meet the crew and have a look around the helicopter.
There are loads of hounds around the place as well, including those from the local Quantox Hunt.
There was a great selection of stalls around selling all kinds of stuff.
Here are a few that caught my eye.
Wow, those saddle falsks are lovely. Check out www.holdhard.com for more info.
Also, have a look at www.exmoorantlercreations.co.uk for some really creative designs
There was the customary Bird display, with the sparrow hawk and the owl taking the spotlight, and of course the was some ferret racing.
Plus there was some acrobatics going on in one of the rings which looked pretty impressive to me.
I was going to join in but I didn’t want to show them up ! Ha, Likely?
Here’s a couple more interesting stalls.
You should come to one of the show’s we do. There’s loads to see and do. Always a great day out.
So, onto the serious stuff.
“Dog of the Day”
There were loads of great dogs around the showground but my favourite this time was “Honey”
It was a hot day and here she is eyeing up the water bottle and then having a drink straight from the bottle.
Oh, you can’t beat a cuddly Labrador. Or can you ? We’ll find out at Totnes, on Sunday.
Oh yeah, I nearly forgot.. We didn’t win 1st Prize, again, for our Tradestand.
We won 2nd prize.
Flippin’ marvellous. Well done Barty!!
