By Royal Appointment??

This year saw the 1st ever Christmas Extravaganza at the beautiful Bowood House, near Chippenham, in aid of the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust.

Set inside the house there were plenty of stalls and Bartys Trading made good use of the beautiful venue to set up a lovely display of goodies for the Christmas Shoppers.

The event ran over three days and trade was good and our customers seemed pleased with what we had to offer.

On the Friday there was a buzz running through the whole house as The Duchess of Cornwall was due to come and have a look around.

The local press were in abundance as the Duchess looked around. “This is Wiltshire” wrote a good covering article (follow link below)

Sue (Barty) and her sister Sally, who were looking after the Barty’s Stand, were very pleased when the Duchess stopped at their stand and bought some carved wooden bowls , “for the boys” she said.

The Duchess then bought one of our large jugs with a Union Jack motif on it.

“Was the jug for the Queen?” Sally asked. The Duchess chuckled.

All in all it was a great event and we hope that Lord and Lady Lansdowne will hold it again next year.
